Today HAS to be the classic Monday Blues.

I shouldn't even have went town AT ALL. I can't believe I bumped into so many people, including Clubbing Girl 1! Yes, I really did save her name as Clubbing Girl 1. And I even bumped into someone whom I dread the MOST. I'm not going to name names, but the moment I spotted him, I quickly don the cap I was holding in my hand and ran off to hide in Watsons. It wasn't my day at all. I didn't even get to satisfy my Cha Soba craving. The one I had in Vietnam was SO MUCH BETTER. I wonder if Cuppage Plaza would have any...

Some idiot woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep. So here I am, at 2.30 in the wee hours, staring blankly at my laptop. Playing my DS was kind of frustrating - I kept failing at the 3rd stage.

Seriously, is my hair THAT funny? I know it's ugly, but it's no fault of mine! I didn't ask for this fringe! Unless your comments are nice, you can keep them to yourself, thank you very much.

Anyways, some random pictures since I'm rather bored.

This looks cool! At least in my opinion!

It was MoS night yesterday. Frankly, I wasn't planning to do any dancing - I wasn't in the mood. But stupid Mike, he made Murdoc and me 划拳 with him. He created a stupid rule, therefore I kept losing, and I kept drinking. He didn't let me pour my own drinks - he filled half the cup with Chivas, and poured just abit of coke. Ughh- the taste was so disgusting. I started getting quite high after a few rounds, BUT I WASN'T DRUNK. My brain couldn't function properly, and I started forgetting a few of the girls' names.

Like what the hell, I have one number here, and I can't, for God's sake, recall her name at all. Am I supposed to name her Clubbing Girl 1? -___-"

Ok, I digressed. So basically, I met alot of people, but none of their names stuck in my head. A few people waved at me, said hi, and I just stared blankly. Either they were strangers being friendly, or I'm supposed to know them. One of them even called me by my Chinese name! Like wow, he must have known me since long long ago! And I don't remember him! o_0 He said his name was... oh never mind.

Normally I'll stay till the club closed, but suddenly the smoke was suffocating me. I couldn't breathe, and for a few moments, I even prayed that I would just collapse on the spot so that I don't have to suffer anymore. There was this time I even ran out of the club just to get fresh air, BUT IT WAS USELESS. The smoke smell was stuck in my nose. Fucking smokers. I just hate them with a vengeance.

Karen was there too, and she was pretty much wasted too. I think the only person who was fine was Murdoc. I feel kind of bad that I wanted to leave before the club closed, since she wanted to see DJ Tang... Sorry, girl! I'll make it up to you next time ok?

I'M WASTED!!! LALALALALALALALALALA~ So much for being a target. I just can't get drunk! HAHAHAHA high~~~

Just got home from town. I realised I utterly forgot to take pictures. Bahh- So anyways, I met up with Murdoc and Nelly in Cineleisure. We watched what we thought was a Japanese horror movie, but as it turned out, Superwoman was featured in the film. o_0 So much for me being terrified! AND AND AND I bumped into 진옥! MWHEEEE~~~ He's still so cute!

While having dinner, Murdoc told me something which upon hearing it, I got really angry - at myself. What was I? A 386?! %$#@^*! BLAHH -spews fire out of mouth-

Anyways, Bei and Jei said they can go to KL around end of May. I hope WS and Kei can make it! It'll be so much fun! I still need to get my yo-yo stuffs!

On second thought, I'm still depressed. No matter how I see it, it looks fugly.

Rei bboyed at 00:41

What do I do if I miss you? The only cure is to, TALK TO YOU!! ^0^

And he loves my new hair! Or rather, my new fringe! I'm not depressed anymore! He said I look like a cute little girl~ but seriously, ever since I got this fringe, I've got strangers asking me whether I'm Korean! Finally! I'm not a Japanese anymore!

Chacha called! What a pleasant surprise! I can't believe he actually called all the way from Hong Kong just to chat! It was kind of difficult to understand his English though ^^" His slang is weird! Even though I'm happy Chacha called, I wish he called instead. ㅠㅠ But then again, I wouldn't want him to do that because it's expensive anyway. -sighs-

Rei bboyed at 21:42

Chloe's back! We just had a conference call together with Azimah and Karen. Finally decided on a date, place, and time to meet. It's so hard calling them up one by one to ask! Anyways, I'm glad I came back in time from KL to pick up her call! Yay~~ I can't wait for next wednesday!

And The Father got a new set of speakers for me! I don't remember what happened to the old one. All I can remember is, I had one before, but it's not around now. -shrugs- Whatever. Anyways, I love the subwoofer! The way the beats are coming out... XD It's making me so ecstatic! MWHEEEE~~

I had a disastrous haircut today. It was kind of a last-minute decision, because I really can't stand my long fringe! So I just walked in!! I wanted to cry after it was done. AN UGLY FRINGE WAS BORN!!!! I even had to bite my lips to stop myself from crying ㅠㅠ I was that depressed! I met up with Kei, and she helped me to look for pretty hats to cover! I'm feeling so much better now! :))

I've been kind of lazy to get all my photos of KL together. So this is my half-hearted effort. There's just WAAAAAY too many pictures!! Kei and I were totally in a trigger-happy mood!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We had dinner at the Singapore train station before departing! Yummy Nasi Ayam Penyet! Anyways, we were so fascinated by our train! And there were so many Caucasian backpackers!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
And so we reached KL about 6.30am. The infrastructure of their train station and ours is a HUGE difference! I never knew Malaysia could actually be more modern! Then again, it has to do with the fact that Singaporeans don't travel around by trains alot ^^" Kei's uncle picked us up from the train station and sent us to Berjaya Times Square.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Our hotel's so wonderful! The views are amazing! Then again, what can you expect when you are living on the 40th storey?? I love the bed too! It's super comfy!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
After resting, we went to Sungei Wang for breakfast at a Hong Kong restaurant. Dim Sum is love! Especially egg tarts -salivates- Anyways, food there is great! And cheap~ though the price difference is only by a small margin. Can you believe that the ice cream at Baskin Robbins goes for half the price every time the date hits 31st?? They need to have promotions like this in Singapore!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Shopping at Berjaya Times Square is amazing. The number of levels there... Woah. For some reason, Hip Hop street closed. There aren't much shops left. ㅠㅠ Too bad the last time I was there, my parents were around, and they adamantly refused to let me get ANY clothes from those shops. -mimicks them- "You are a girl! Be like one!" Blahh. I did get a really cool BAPE sweater though! GAGAGA I was nearly crying when I couldn't get it. I saw it online, but because it was in a Korean site, I had to get someone in Korea to help me. It was so tedious, plus there's the shipping fee too! And yet, now I'm the proud owner of my BAPE sweater! Whoopee~

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The indoor themepark rocks! Kei and I rode the rollercoaster like, 4 times! Consecutively! The most horrible ride of all was the DNA mixer. It looks pretty tame, but OH. MY. GOD. We started screaming like crazy, and I was tearing at the end of the ride. An African guy who took the ride before us LAUGHED like a hyena the moment we started screaming! EVIL!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketThe cafe's still there! The one with the swings! I can't believe after all these years, they are still surviving. Wow. This cafe's pretty hidden. It's on the elusive 6th level, where you have to follow weird directions. There's only 1 escalator that leads up to it!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
And we found HanaKimi at Sungei Wang! As you can see, we were pretty excited ^^"

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The weird and interesting sights we saw! I was really amused when I saw the male mannequin! If I'm a guy, I would feel so degraded if I have to wear that! XD

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Leaving for Singapore. If my bag's any bigger, I'm going to look like a backpacker! Though I wouldn't mind looking like one...

So that concludes my KL trip. I didn't even feel like I was in Malaysia. Everyone there speaks Cantonese! Weirdly enough, I got approached twice - One, to model; Two, to join some beauty contest o_0 Anyways, I need to go back there again because I still have so many purchases that I've yet to get! Hopefully, EIs can all go together to KL one day! KTV-ing and themepark-ing!!

Taking another short vacation in Kuala Lumpur this Wednesday - train tickets are already booked! I just love the idea of trains. It's so old-school! Especially those steam engines kind XD Anyways, I'll be staying at Berjaya Times Square! How cool! That's the shopping centre with the indoor themepark! I'm so thrilled to go back there again!

I met up with Murdoc on Friday afternoon! We were actually only supposed to hang out till evening before she leaves for a friend's party, but because it was raining, she didn't go! We ended up having lunch at Bugis, playing arcade games, heading down to Cineleisure, watch movies and play pool! I even made 2 new Vietnamese friends!

Today was EIs outing! Jei didn't turn up, so I couldn't give her the souvenier from Vietnam. I'm really glad Bei and WS liked it! It was a pretty short meetup, or maybe it just seems short because I was late. ^^" In any case, I hope to have the Sakae lunch again soon!

Anyways, the movie "그녀는 괴로워" or better known as 200 Pound Beauty, is really nice! I so want to watch AGAIN! And I got the OST! Yay!!

Mehh. I know I have yet to blog about my final day in Vietnam... but I'm lazy. Ok, basically just did some last minute shopping, donated money to the ground, talked to cute Koreans manning an uber cool shop, camped at hotel lobby and played with the guys there, AND I SAW BEN AT DIAMOND!! I swear it's Ben!!! He's like taller now, AND SO MUCH CUTER!! I'm gushing ^^" Damn. I should have said hi. We were totally like staring at each other, even after we walked by, we turned, and continued staring. XD

The infamous old granny.

I've got something funny to share about old granny - Kei, Mr. Cute Guy and I were watching cartoon network when the old granny plonked herself down in front of the TV. She got bored, and started channel-surfing till she came to a channel featuring YOUNG STRONG HOT MALE BODS exercising! AND SHE GOT HOOKED!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Anyways, I'm like suffering from post Vietnam withdrawal symptoms ㅠㅠ I miss the people... even the crazy traffic. The people there use their horns like it's free [Well, it IS free, but that's not what I'm trying to say]. Kind of miss it blaring day in day out ㅠㅠ I definitely HAVE to go back there again! And this time, visit Candy in Hanoi!

We went to Tax Deparment early in the morning.

Inside of Tax.

There's a really good supermarket on the 2nd floor, so the both of us practically spent most of our time there choosing local foods to buy as souveniers for people back home. Ivy recommended us to go to Highlands Cafe to eat blackforest cake, and also to enjoy the views of HCMC as it's superb.

No kidding! The view was really nice!

We were supposed to go Ham Ghi Boulevard [I read that they sell alot of the food stuffs], but since we got alot of food at Tax, we went back to our hotel to rest. We slept till 4plus, then we went off to Lotteria for a meal.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Bulgogi burger, 1 chicken wings, 1 lime juice, 1 pack of fries.

We met Ivy and Nelly at Diamond after Lotteria! I miss Ivy!! She's still looking so pretty! They wanted us to try traditional Vietnamese food at Ngon, so we walked there. Along the way, we passed by parks, where it's a common spot for couples to come in their bikes and make out! There was also this BIG group of students, whom I initially thought was a bunch of hooligans. Ivy said they are from the countryside, and because they don't have money to go to entertainment centres, they hang out at parks and sing songs instead!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We also passed by the Reunification Palace. It's so commanding!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

There's actually a power shortage problem in Vietnam. Murdoc told me before that in HCMC, the government actually switches off power for like, 3 days a week to conserve energy. It doesn't affect hotels though, or so Murdoc said.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
They switched off redundant street lamps!

We reached Ngon in less than 10 minutes. Ivy said it's a really famous restaurant in HCMC.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We ate at Ngon, and the traditional foods were really nice!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This is from North Vietnam - the taste was abit weird, but it's nice at the same time!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This is almost the same as the one above, just that this is from South Vietnam. I think it's nicer than the one above!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Cheap thrill, but I was really kind of amused ^^"

Nelly and Ivy brought us shopping at the night market outside Ben Thanh and Nguyen Dinh Chieu street. Nelly lives on that street too! There wasn't much, so we all went back home after fixing a time to meet up again tomorrow!

We gave some fruits to the Mr. Chinaman and Mr. Cute Guy, and they were kind of happy! Kei and I were still up at about 1am plus. I was sitting on the bed using my lappie and Kei was walking around in front of the bed when suddenly,

THE LIGHTS WENT OFF!

Kei LEAPT onto the bed and huddled under the covers!! It was a power blackout! Thank god my laptop can run on batteries, if not we would have totally freaked out! Kei's phone has this torchlight function, and we started creeping downstairs to the lobby to find out what's going on. We started feeling our way down, because Kei's torchlight only works for a few seconds, then it goes off again. I had to swallow my screams each time it goes off because everything's black!! Downstairs was totally dark too, and Mr. Chinaman was in home clothes sleeping on the ground. The hotel closed! I started prodding him to wake up, but he didn't respond at all! I was so scared that he was dead!! He suddenly jumped after like a thousand pokes! I was so startled I fell back! He was startled too, but explained that the power would come on in an hour or two's time. We slowly crawled our way back up, but the lights suddenly came back on again. We felt so embarassed after that! I mean, nobody else freaked out! We were the only 2 girls going crazy! Nobody bothered!! (>.<) SO SO EMBARASSING!!

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

It was hotel's breakfast for us again. One of the hotel guys, let's name him Mr. Bearded since he has a beard, sat down and talked to us. The 2 other guys, Mr. Cute Guy and Mr. Chinaman [since he looks like an immigrant from China], works the late afternoon/night shift. And every morning, without fail, an old granny would sit in front of the TV watching soccer! I'm serious! Soccer matches!!

Anyways, after breakfast, we cabbed straight to Saigon Square. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! I love that place!! We bought SO MANY things!! So far, I think only Ben Thanh and Saigon Square are DA BOMB! XD

We ate lunch at a Korean restaurant opposite Saigon Square. My god- it was a feast! And the bill only totalled like SS$20! Blissfully cheap!

We went off to Nguyen Trai Street. There wasn't anything much as the clothes/shoes there weren't my thing. We wanted to drop by Tax Department, but as we didn't know the Vietnamese name of Tax Department nor the street it was on, the taxi driver didn't know what we were talking about.

We decided to go back to the hotel to rest and ask the guys there too. Mr. Cute Guy was on duty! XD We brought down fruits to eat, and hung around the lobby area. Kei was struggling to cut the pears with the knife we borrowed, and the lady boss just popped over and helped us cut! Mr. Bearded was being friendly again and started chit-chatting with us. Kei and I were craving for bubble tea again, so I asked him whether there's any bubble tea shops nearby. He said there was, and that he could walk us there! Oh well, I would prefer walking with Mr. Cute Guy, but hey, at least Beardy treated us to bubble tea in the end! So nice yeahh!

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

We realised that our hotel provides breakfast, so we tried it out. I found out that actually, our hotel people are really nice! I'm so thankful to Ivy that we got this hotel! Even though it's a budget hotel and really small [the receptionist area looks kind of run-down too ^^" Maybe it's because I'm used to nice hotels ^^"], the people are so warm and friendly! There's even a cute guy here ^^" He has such adorable, Japanese-like eyes!

After breakfast, we went to Cho Lon, or Chinatown. We were supposed to walk around Chinatown and look for Binh Tay Market at the same time, but we didn't find it. Instead, we found a bubble tea shop! Kei and I were so excited!! We didn't know bubble tea got franchised here too! However, the menu was all written in Vietnamese, and the girl over the counter couldn't understand nor speak English. Just as we were wondering what to do, another girl appeared. She could speak Chinese! We got our bubble tea, and asked for directions to Binh Tay Market. She told us to walk straight down, but we still didn't see any market. We did see an air-con building with a supermarket inside, so we ran in! The blast of aircon was love! Hahaha shopped at the supermarket for the Pho cup noodles Karen requested and while paying at the cashier, I suddenly heard "Bounce with Me" by DJ DOC! It was coming from a DDR machine! Kei and I were so fascinated! That DDR machine plays Korean songs! We tried it and it was so fun! I mean, it's such a novelty! DDR machines in Singapore plays only Japanese songs!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The machine!

Cabbed off to An Dong market [we learnt our lesson. ONLY Vinasun or Vina. THAT'S IT. Even if we rot under the sun, we shall wait!]. There was a new An Dong Plaza, and the old An Dong market. We dropped off the new one first. The things there were kind of expensive by Vietnamese standards, and the clothes/bags/shoes were only so-so. When we popped by the old An Dong, we got accosted by 2 overly-eager salesgirl selling coffee. It's not well-known, but, Vietnamese coffee is actually really good. I bought a pack containing the best beans in Vietnam for my relatives as souveniers.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The old An Dong Market

We didn't feel like shopping anymore at the old An Dong market [because it wasn't air-conditioned ^^"], so we went off to Diamond Plaza.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
It's like Takashimaya in Orchard, but very much smaller. And Ivy told me that the branded goods sold there might be fake! 0_0! We saw the Korean DDR machine there too and played it! Hahaha kind of addicted to it! After our mini-exercise, we ate at KFC. I haven't eaten KFC in ages and it was so nice!! And cheap too! Hahaha

Kei and I in KFC!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Me drinking pepsi. Ughh- I didn't know they had iced lemon tea. I didn't see it anywhere on the menu! Somehow, Kei knew and she got that ㅠㅠ

We heard that Parkson, another shopping mall, was nearby Diamond, so we decided to walk there. And since Dong Khoi Street, a shopping street, was just beside it, we thought of walking down it too. We tried to get there by using the map, but got confused instead. We walked up and down the same street so many times, the people hanging out there probably thinks we were crazy! Hahahaha we passed by this nice building while being lost and took a picture of it!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We managed to find Parkson AND Dong Khoi and I felt so accomplished! ^0^ It was like some little adventure! We bought more goods at Parkson's supermarket, and also found a VERY interesting shop tucked in a corner! Hahahaha

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Our Singapore Tourism Centre!!

We left Parkson and walked the entire stretch of Dong Khoi, but there wasn't anything that really interests us because it was mainly those artsy stuffs as Vietnam is famous for art galleries too. And guess what we saw?? A Vietnamese version of Lucky Plaza!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We went back home after that and unpacked our shopping stuffs. Ahhh- the orgasm of looking at my new purchased goods!

Kei and I woke up at 5am. Murdoc's flying back to Singapore because her school is starting, so we sent her to the airport. Along the way, I caught a glimpse of Vietnam. Maybe it was because of the music her driver was playing, but I was suddenly filled with emotions while passing by the landscape and people going about their daily lives. I had a sudden thought like, Vietnam is so beautiful. Hahaha ok, I sound so crappy. Anyways, I want to thank Murdoc and her wonderful family for taking care of us here! THAAAANK YOU! -lovelovelovelovelove

From the airport, the driver drove Kei and me to De Tham Street in Ho Chi Minh City. Ivy had found a hotel for us, Lan Anh Hotel. The driver helped us unload our luggages, and even passed us a bag of fruits from Murdoc's mother! She's worried that we might get hungry while staying in the hotel! How sweet!

After dumping our things in the room, we went down and started familiarising ourselves with our street. There were men with bikes and taxis lining the streets, calling out for tourists to take a ride with them. I read forums that alot of them are just cheaters - they will quote you a ridiculous amount when you've reached. For taxis, either the meter will jump at a supersonic rate, or they won't even switch it on. Anyways, since it was so obvious we were tourists, everyone started calling out at us. And for some reason, EVERYONE thinks we are Japanese! We even got stopped by a Japanese guy asking us to join a tour for Japanese tourists! We also found Lotteria on our street! Lotteria is a fast food chain opened by Koreans. It's really popular here! Since we wanted to try, but were kind of full from breakfast, we only bought shaker fries. It was so nice! And the packaging is in Korean!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Lotteria on De Tham Street

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Even the instructions on the strawbox are in Korean!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
See the green arrow? It's pointing to the seasonings!

So after our mini exploration, we went back to our hotel to sleep since we were kind of tired from waking up so early. We woke up around 2 plus and went for lunch at a cafe selling Japanese food. It was so cheap!! ^0^ Took a cab to Ben Thanh market via the Vinasun cab. Vinasun and Vina are one of the few trustable cab companies. Ivy told me Mai Linh [the green ones] were ok too, but I didn't read about them in forums, so I'm kind of scared to try.

Anyways, Ben Thanh Market is a really famous place in Ho Chi Minh City selling EVERYTHING!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The first few hours were pretty enjoyable, and like I said, everyone seriously thinks we are Japanese! They keep speaking in Japanese to us! There was this time I was interested in a stall, the shopkeeper just kept talking all the way in Japanese! Hahaha about 4 plus onwards, things started going downhill. Shopkeepers manning girls clothes stalls started accosting me! Only me! They grabbed my arms, and it was those kind of death grips! I felt that it was kind of rude to shake them off, and they took advantage of it. They pulled me into their stalls and forced their goods on me. I was really reluctant, but they just put the goods into bags and making me take it. In the end, I just paid them. -___-" I'm stupid, I know. Many stalls did that to me, till I couldn't take it anymore. I just ran out of the place with Kei in tow.

We wanted to take a cab back to our hotel, but no matter how long we waited, there wasn't any Vinasun nor Vina cabs. I got pretty frustrated, and the weather was really hot. I just took one of the cabs that was available, and it was one of the worst decisions of my life. It was a cheater cab. The meter ran like nobody's business, and the driver took a long way there. In the end, we didn't even reach our hotel, and the taxi fare was $50 SINGAPORE DOLLARS. WHAT THE ****!! I was seriously pissed. Not only that, he kept confusing us by asking us to count the money properly, and suddenly, it appeared that we didn't give enough. We had to pay ANOTHER S$10! After we got off the cab, I saw him taking out the missing money which he hid!! I was so angry!!! ARGHHHH!!! Worse was, even though we were on De Tham Street, it was some other part of it!! We were utterly lost! We couldn't find anyone who looked like they know English, and Kei nearly cried. We walked aimlessly, until this young Vietnamese couple spotted us. Or rather, the girl spotted us first, and she tugged on her boyfriend's sleeve. He asked us whether we needed any help, in English!! I was so happy! They guided us back to our hotel!! Oh my god - I love them so much. Utterly grateful to them forever.

Even though our day was kind of ruined and we had no mood to continue exploring Ho Chi Minh City, I felt really lucky to meet the couple, and I've decided - Vietnamese people are really kind in general!
